About a week ago, I finally got around to reading all of the posts that my esteemed teammate Mike Sorice has made in response to the claims of Penn's Nick Walters. Then, after returning from out-of- town this weekend, I come back to the Y! board to find that three more undergrad tournaments in the Midwest using NAQT IS questions have been announced. This brings up two (well, three, actually) important questions: 1. Where have all the packet-submission tournaments gone? The only packet-submission tournaments available in the Midwest right now (as far as I know) are the two that will be run by us here at Illinois and the mirror of Princeton's Kickboxer to be held at Iowa State. 2. For those of you who are competing at said NAQT IS tournaments, I have two questions: A. Do you honestly find competing on high school questions to be an adequate test of the knowledge you've gained at the collegiate level? I'm not trying to be condescending here, I'm just really curious to know. B. What would make you want to attend more packet-submission tournaments in the area? Is it just the difficulty that's associated with ACF that's preventing you from either creating or attending such tournaments, or is it merely pure laziness and unwillingness to write packets? After all, writing packets is how I began to suck slightly less...I can't help but wonder why other people don't want to do it as well. Anyway, answers and criticisms are requested here by anyone who cares to give them. Thanks, --Sudheer VP, UIUC ABT
