After a 20 minute delay, two Auburn teams pulling out, changing the schedule 6 times in one hour AND being kicked out of the SLC at 7pm, the real Athens 2004 ended in a rousing success. Jars of Clay Aiken (Joseph Dion, Mark Dawson, Keith Hudson and Al P.) won the region with a 12-1 record in a 8 team double round robin (with round 14 being canceled as we were kicked out of the building) In 2nd was UTC's Cuts Like a Spork with a 10-3 record. UGA's Sarah: Hot and Short won third with a 8-5 record. Both of these teams pretty much get an automatic bid for winning last year and hosting this year, respectively. Full results and stats can be seen on UGA's new website, tied in with my high school's faculty pages (make sure you close the gaps): http:// www.clarke.k12.ga.us / do / teacherClassView? id=52108 With that said.... Alysia from Emory (AKA Ken Jennings Fan Fic) won the Title IX award for top scoring female. For her efforts she won a copy of some teenie girl book whose title escapes at the moment. El Kabong from the Silly Hat Squad (Vandy Alums) won top scoring rookie. FOr his efforts he won a copy of the book "The Up & Comer" by some author I've never heard of. But perhaps THE award of the night goes to the player from Emory known as "I'll take Uranus for $200, Alex"- the glorious wrong answer: Wrong Answer: Mach 3 razor Correct Answer: The "Sybian" sex toy Thanks to Dr. Greg Trandel, James Qunintong, and the stats man Andrew Feist from Duke for helping out. Cant wait to do it again (and this time I'll budget extra time). Robin UGA CBAT
