Wesley Matthews finished > third playing solo. To be fair, this isn't quite true. I think our team name may have given this impression (I suggested a rather randomly selected "The Concept of Irony" as a replacement that did not give an impression of team population, but I think this was either lost between rounds 1 and 2 or was not recorded). In any case, my teammate Greg's contribution, for which I am very thankful, should become apparent when full stats are released (especially if SQBS round-by-round results are published). He put us over the top in at least one of those closer rounds in which I was playing rather poorly. While I'm correcting this, I might as well say that I am very glad that it is tournaments like IO that provide the quasi-affliated or unaffiliated players some matches. I'll bet there are a lot more players whose love of the (academic) game extends beyond an institution than many others would wager. It was also good to see newer teams like Drake and Illinois-Chicago in attendance. This was mostly an enjoyable experience, with some hardcore bio and physics for which I was ill prepared and, I imagine, some rather tightly edited questions, minus a few repeats or near repeats here and there. Once again, much praise to the Illinois ABT for hosting. I'm going to be really presumptive(?) and hope I can make it to some form of this thing next year. --Wesley
