The Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence announces the 2005 recipients of the Benjamin Cooper Memorial Academic Ambassador Award and Young Ambassador Awards. The 2005 Benjamin Cooper Academic Ambassador Award goes to Sue Korosa, who has built a championship academic competition program at Copley High School in Ohio. She has also been instrumental in spearheading the creation of Ohio Academic Competitions, a statewide coaches association, as well as organizing one of the largest and continuously-running high school invitational competitions in the state. The 2005 Benjamin Cooper Young Ambassador Award goes to Tom Egan, a former member of the Illinois Academic Buzzer Team and currently serves as head coach for Maine South High School's scholastic bowl team. He has been an advocate for scholastic bowl and has been spearheading improvements to improve the quality of this activity within the state. He is currently serving as Ombudsperson for the Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association. We thank and gratefully appreciate everyone who submitted nominations. This year's selection process was very competitive, so feel free to re-nominate your candidates for next year. See you all at the 2005 tournament in June.
