Michigan State University and the University of Michigan are traditional rivals in all areas, including quiz bowl. During the 2005-2006 Academic Year and in future years, a series of games should be played between the two schools. The MSU Academic Competition Club, therefore, challenges Michigan Academic Competitions under the following proposal, which is negotiable: - A total of five games shall be played in the challenge series, held at intervals throughout the academic year. - A call for packets will be issued to other universities. The other universities will mail the questions alternately to MSU or Michigan. The university that the questions are sent to will write a packet in exchange. The format of the packets will need to be negotiated. The supplying university will sign the seal of the envelope. This seal must not be broken before the game is to be played. - Each university will supply a judge/moderator. - The location of the games will alternate. Here is a proposed schedule for 2005-2006: October - MSU - Michigan Moderator, MSU Judge, MSU buzzer system November - Michigan - MSU Moderator, Michigan Judge, Michigan buzzer system January - MSU - Michigan Moderator, MSU Judge, MSU buzzer system March - Michigan - MSU Moderator, Michigan Judge, Michigan buzzer system April - MSU - Michigan Moderator, MSU Judge, MSU buzzer system The following year, Michigan will receive three home games. - A traveling trophy will be bought jointly prior to the first series. The winner of a majority of games shall win the traveling trophy, but the series will be played to the full five games. I would like to negotiate this proposal with someone from Michigan Academic Competitions in the hopes of working out a deal to play a series next year and in future years.
