The Oklahoma Academic Team held elections on 24 Apr 2000. Emily Moore finished her term as President. Emily had replaced Brian South, who had replaced Stephen Gill, who had been originally elected President in May 1999. David Murphy will be President of the Oklahoma Academic Team for the 2000-01 campaign. David Smith and Laura Hill retain their seats on the Executive Committee. Stephen Gill and David Stewart have been elected to the seats being vacated by Emily Moore and Dan Beshear. My retirement is effective at 0000 CDT tonight. I have turned over the passwords to the team's various accounts. This is my final communique as Webslinger for the Oklahoma Academic Team. So much has changed over the past seven years, and yet seems like only a couple of months ago Eric Bell, Ann Wiley, Carl Ducummon, Joe Miller, Paul Lindgren, and I were trying to get the Team established; only a couple of weeks ago, Emily Moore, Robyn Conder, and Eric Brown were our first crop of freshmen to stick out an entire year. I close my eyes and I can still Eric Bell's look of disgust at the worst the CB would throw at him ("binary") and the "of course I knew that" at almost everything else; the glee in the eyes of then 17-year old Emily Moore getting a tossup; the matter-of-fact responses of both Louis and Stephen Gill even if the answer was a pure guess; the quiet confidence in the face and voice of David Smith; the laugh of Sarah Cooper; the sperm drawings of Carl Ducummon; Ann Wiley patiently telling us all to settle down when we were getting hosed by dumbass moderator; and my wife Jami silently waiting at home while I go off to parts unknown just to play a game. Without these people, my life would have been one sad place to be. Thank you all for your patience in putting up with me and my foolishness. Daniel W Beshear
