This is just a preliminary announcement for PENN BOWL X, to be held Super Bowl weekend. Like previous years, Penn Bowl will be a timed, packet-submission tournament. However, we plan to make several changes to make packet submission less onerous, and to improve the quality of packets used at the tournament; more info on this will follow in the months to come. A formal announcement should come out around the end of September, and on-line registration will begin ***October 1, 2000.*** All information will be posted to the Penn Bowl WWW site, at http://www.pennbowl.org However, we need your help, so that we can make Penn Bowl as well-run and enjoyable a tournament as possible. To that end, I would appreciate it if you could fill out this brief survey, and return it to me within the next few weeks. [I realize it may be difficult to answer questions 3 and 4 right now, but the more info I can get, the better.] Please reply to samer_at_...; please do NOT reply to the message board. ******************** (1) Name: (2) School [if a student]: (3) Is your school considering coming to Penn Bowl 10? (4) If so, how many teams are you considering bringing? (5) How many matches should we guarantee to all teams? [Please give a number or range of numbers, rather than "as many as possible".] (5a) If you could play as many matches as you'd like, how many matches would that be? [Again, please give a number or range of numbers, rather than "as many as possible".] (6) Would you prefer that Penn Bowl 10 have power tossups? [Please note that this is not a formal vote; PADT will make the final decision this fall after packets have been submitted.] (7) If you have any suggestions for improving Penn Bowl 10, please let me know. We will consider any and all reasonable suggestions. ******************** Again, answering these questions will help us immensely in planning Penn Bowl 10; I hope to see many of you in Philadelphia this January.
