All hail your conscience. I will surely sleep better at night knowing how wonderful you are. Seriously, it takes a very special post (a very special poster?) to combine that level of self-adulation with that level of sanctimony. Refusing to take credit for tossups you didn't really answer is noble, but arguably the correct thing to do -- and, for that very reason, hardly anything new. Some of the best players do it all the time. (Not me, I can't remember ever getting credit for something I knew was wrong.)" To me, the post by Arsaces was not self-adulatory, and more importantly, was exactly the kind of post one would expect and want from the quizbowl group, as it attempted to relate the current political mess with the game which this group (in theory) is concerned. What I find more interesting is how Matt found a way to attack a poster for citing a case in which he behaved in what Matt himself goes on to call a noble manner, when Matt himself has in the past argued that he would not concede a point of protest to the opposing team when he was certain they were deserving of the points. Clearly, this post was simply an excuse for Matt to continue his tradition of personally attacking those with whom he has had disagreements about the game of quizbowl. So, those of you who have had issues with Matt in the past (and God knows there are a good number of you), think twice before you post, because you might just end up as the latest target of Matt's petty spite.
