For anything already submitted in QB, it's probably best to use host school/program, or alternatively tournament director and/or qurestion editor, despite the problems with both. For any future events...I would suggest TDs and/or question czars to explicity claim, as do many contest administrators, that all submissions become property of the host organization. My first thought on the viability of a lawsuit against Beall at the present is as follows : parties solving problems themselves is nearly always preferrable (if less "sexy") than lawsuits and lawsuit threats. Some sort of "cease and desist" letter, signed by the directly affected parties, some big tournament hosts, and maybe an attorney or two, may be worth writing. (Although I'd have to believe that if Beall were plagiarizing Jeopardy! that Paramount or King World would not only have a clear-cut claim, but would have the means and interest to pursue it.) As for us...maybe Beall didn't know/understand up until now that not only is he misappropriating intellectual property from the QB community, that we are aware of and object to said misappropriation, and that some of us, if provoked, are capable of sustaining legal action against his organization. It may even be useful to educate him on the fact that there are HS teams and coaches out there who are aware of the existence of this archive and use it for practice, and any plagiarism of it will compromise the security of his questions. (Then again, if he took from Jeopardy!....)
