I remember when I was on the Denison CBI team my freshman year, and met people such as Tom Chuck, Craig Barker, and Anthony de Jesus, who encouraged me to become more involved in the circuit. I was delighted to discover that such a circuit existed, and enthusiastically urged my teammates to learn more as well. I wasn't exactly buddies with them -- I think my selection as a team member prevented one of their best friends from being there or something -- and they weren't at all interested in doing QB as anything more than a once-a-year, school-sponsored kind of thing. Since that time, I tried to start a program my sophomore year; everyone dropped out after the first tournament. I know that the institutional rep for CBI (or, at the least, the person sponsoring the on-campus IMs) has changed in each of the three years that I've been here. I haven't bothered participating in CBI personally in the past two years because none of my friends here are interested -- although next year is a possibility. As for attending other tournaments, I don't have a car, or a lot of money. So I couldn't get to most tournaments, and even if I could, I probably couldn't pay the entrance fees. So, my point? For some reason, it appears to be damn hard to get new teams from CBI into the circuit, and it takes more than getting one person interested. However, I think a more organized effort to get new teams involved is great -- such as the discussed idea of handing out flyers, etc. Go for it! It's worth a shot, anyway. Kristin Hamlin PS. Region VII people have my full permission to bug the s*** out of whoever's representing Denison, just for fun. :-)
