<< think CBI is a unique format, because let's be honest with ourselves. A lot of these once a year teams have no business competing on the same level with even fringe circuit teams. Pounding someone like that lets you puff your chest out, but at least try to think of the people on the other side of the room when you do it.>> This is precisely why total points in all games should NEVER be used as a first or second tiebreaker in CBI regionals, or other tournaments that match teams with widely varying skill levels. You don't want the good teams feeling they must beat up on the bad teams by the largest margin possible; and how bad you can annihilate a cupcake team is not a good measure of the quality of a team in any sport. The most egregious example of this I witnessed was at CBI R4 in 1992 or '93. For much of Saturday, my Penn State team was tied in the standings with George Washington for the last playoff spot in our division. We beat GW head-to-head, but the first tiebreaker was total points. So both teams were running up the score on cupcakes all day. This included Gallaudet, courageous just to be there, and one team anyone should feel sorry running it up against. Fortunately (for us), GW lost a match in like the next-to-last round and we beat them in the standings, though we would have lost the total points TB. Doug
