Now that I've gotten everyone's
attention:
I personally swear by Charlie Steinhice's rules of
competition:
1. Winning beats losing.
2. Losing beats getting
stomped.
3. Getting stomped *still* beats not
playing.
I'd also like to introduce the Stahlhut Bragging
Rights Guidelines:
1. Winning is terrific.
Congratulations!
2. Winning 10 tournaments in a season doesn't mean
you wuz robbed if you don't win #11.
3.
Winning championship X doesn't mean you're divinely
ordained to win championship Y.
4. Dominating
format X doesn't prove you can dominate format Y
(although positive correlations between the two are
undoubtedly common because of the shared
skill-set).
5. If you don't win the tournament, you can still
save face afterwards at NTN or in the room
scrimmage.
