<<Much congrats to Matt Weiner and the Pitt folks for their DivII crown, but Pitt's DivI team needed some help in order to stay afloat without him in the nationals field.>> A 5-10 record doesn't exactly imply that we were sinking drastically without Matt, Shaun. I can't think of a single game where we were done for early. This includes games against Princeton A, Florida, and Arkansas. Give us a couple of different boni and our record probably improves to 7-8. Since you seem to imply that I somehow did wrong by having Matt play D1 and D2 this year, let me explain why I ran the gambit ... * Going into this season, we only had TWO D1-restricted players, myself and Rich Nalichowski. We're not exactly a very deep squad. * Matt and I agreed that he could have a serious chance of making a run at the D2 title, or we could take an outside shot at the undergrad title. As the season progressed, we saw that the former was much more likely. * So, we decided to gamble -- Matt and I would play in D1 and qualify there, ensuring some ICT representation. The rest of the D2 folks would hopefully do the same in their division, allowing Matt to make his title run. Are you somehow implying that we tainted the field by not fielding the absolute best D1 team on this earth that we possibly could have? I'm sorry if you do, but I'm confident that we belonged in both fields. We just decided to maximize our chance in one of 'em.
