Jeremy- I don't know why the 20th of October was chosen by UTC/Missouri-Rolla or Illinois for their respective tournaments, but our scheduling was based on the UF football calendar more than any other factor. Obviously, there will be no lodging, parking, or breathing room on Saturdays when the team has a home game. October 20th is the only bye weekend the Gators have between Sept. 1st and Thanksgiving so it seemed like a natural date for our revival of the Sunshine State Invitational, something we had been discussing for some time. We did want to get our date out there six months in advance because the 20th would work so well for us. We in Gainesville are discussing the possibility of moving our tournament to the weekend of an away game. October 13th is one possibility - though tournaments two weekends in a row might still depress turnout at both. November 10th is the only other weekend which could work for us, but I fear that would be stepping on the toes of the as yet unnanounced, but long-established, Southeastern Invitational at Berry College. UF is in full agreement that three fall tournaments in the Southeast would be a wonderful addition to our nascent circuit - but three tournaments on the same day would do more harm than good. Let's all see what we can do to be flexible. -Daniel Nordby Communications Director, UF College Bowl Also lamenting the fact that NAQT's IFT falls on the same day as the Florida-Florida State game (in Gainesville this year!)
