Yesterday at Princeton, 17 teams duked it out in a marathon full round-robin with steins and shotglasses at stake. After many, many rounds, at the head of the pack were Carleton [Shane Ewert, Gabe Lyon, Ted Salk, Will Cavert] (15-1) and Chicago [Ed "The Dennis Rodman of Quiz/College Bowl" Cohn, Jeff Bennett, Matt Reece and Leah Williams] (15-1). Carleton had beaten Chicago in the second round of play, but playoffs were still necessary... In the first playoff round (round 18), Chicago beat Carleton, 370-80. To win the tournament though, another playoff round was required and it was a close one. After being down 40 at the half, Chicago pulled through and won what turned out to be a very close final round, 220-125. Right behind the top two teams were Florida Atlantic, Rutgers New Brunswick A, Swarthmore and Yale A. Jason Keller also took home the prize for best submitted tossup on the subject of Thomas Tallis. (There were four teams who submitted questions on the topic through their own volition. There was, in fact, no Thomas Tallis distribution.) More detailed results and individual stats to follow sometime in the next few days... We hope everyone had a nice day and that we'll see you sometime next year for PUBFest V: Still Crazy After All These Years (or some other yet to be decided title of that nature).
