>>I e-mailed the TD for the NJ State Championship on Saturday, me living in NJ and all, and he said the only guaranteed spot goes to the champ. The runner-up is NOT guaranteed a trip to Ann Arbor. << Jon-- Sorry for the misleading information. Although I was very sure that more than one team would qualify for Nationals from our tournament, I couldn't find a statement from NAQT on the web or on paper that states *exactly* how the qualifying process works to backup such a claim (thanks for posting that, Eric). The tournament format should pretty much stay the same, but with a shorter prelim round-robin and a slightly longer playoff round-robin. I'll send details via email shortly. Good luck on Saturday. Going back (actually way back) to the topic of HS events in the NJ/NY area (the Re: Hey all... messages), I just wanted to add a few more events I know of for BCA's (and other HS teams) benefit. In New Jersey, Secaucus hosts a tournament in October, Columbia hosts in December (I think), and Millburn in March. A bit further away are tournaments in NY like Half Hollow Hills and Kellenberg on Long Island and White Plains. I have no idea what format these events use since my HS (Old Bridge) didn't attend them while I was there (Anyone who has played in these tournaments is welcome to comment here...). So in addition to what has already been mentioned, it seems there's enough academic competition out there to keep a new team in NJ busy. Anyone interested in the contact information for the above-mentioned schools can email me. Wishing more NJ HSQBers enrolled at Rutgers, Ed De Guzman edsd_at_...
