Excerpted from Edmund's posts: > That brings me to my point. QB needs to be more experimental in its formats....So one idea worth toying with ... would be a guerilla-style meta-tournament consisting just of experimental formats. That could be a blast! Which school was it that, a few years ago, ran "Anarchy Bowl", a just-for-fun tournament in which no packet distribution was specified? That one would have fulfilled a long-term QB fantasy of mine had I been able to actually get there that weekend! I think a half-academic, half-trash open tournament would also be fun, as would an open consisting entirely of theme packets, or an all-tossup-no-bonus format. The Blue Ox singles tournament format is also something I'd love to play again; that's the one where players are seeded in several free-for-all rounds with seven or eight players per room, and then play a few rounds of true one-on-one for a final ranking. It leads to some interesting strategies. (For example: I found myself sharing the first-round room with Andrew Yaphe, Tom Waters, and five hip-shooters with greater speed than mine. I decided I'd be able to take third place in that round simply by not negging. It worked.) :-) There must be a critical mass of wild imaginations in this group. Let the free-association begin ....
