ajflemi quotes someone else, and
notes...
"'Partisans of one format or another will constantly degrade
the other formats.'
Right. And that's how it
should be. Come on, a little antagonism now and then
never hurt anyone."
AL-NL, AFC-NFC, Feldman-Haim
are all examples of good antagonism. The crap here is
something else, and I don't think I can do much more
justice to it than Jon Nam's recent post.
I also
wonder where the idea came from that past format flame
wars led to vastly improved formats. ACF predated our
little e-community, and TRASH came about because we like
trash. And while I don't think the NAQT folks were
sitting around thinking "these flame wars make me want to
start my own company," I can't speak for
them.
Public forum good. Pointless ranting, probably good for
some, but not exactly the wellspring of
progress.
