Where it is a regard to Israel and extreme
religious and emotional issues there is little we could do
to dissuade a fanatic terrorist.
On the other
hand, we cannot continue to destabilize societies and
leave behind chaos. Particularly in the absence of a
rival or enemy, we need to pay attention to what we
leave behind when we get militarily involved. We have
been seeing a lot of "blowback" because of the
institutions the US destroyed without replacing during the
cold war. It's not about the politics here - it's
simply an imprudent way to conduct policy.
