<<"FTPE, heart stuff." Hmmm, I know what the bonus will be about, I didn't have to endless lines of blather... this is exactly what lead-ins ought to be! (unless the question is tricky enough to require more setting up of course) I'd actually like to see more of these leadins, especially at packet-submission timed tournaments (that's PennBowl people) so we can get through more than 18 damn tossups a round. Anyone else a fan of/despise mimimized leadins?>> There was a time when, rather than say "Answer these related Qs, 10 points each," I actually started some boni with no lead-ins at all. But I stopped doing that when people started complaining to me about it. Right now, though, I try to have a lead-in that cuts to the point as quickly as possible, and provides helpful information whenever possible. [For example, if all three parts dealt with structures in the heart, I'd rather say, "Name these structures in the (human) heart, 10 points each." Or, if the question dealt with the differences in circulatory systems between humans and insects, "Humans and insects have radically different circulatory systems. 15 points each." And so forth.] In any case, it was true for PB10--and I expect it to hold true for PB11--that the vast majority of bonus lead-ins will be one line long or less. --STI [Minor point: no more than 10% of the matches at PB10 got through fewer than 20 TUs, and, in many of those, almost every TU was answered.]
