Thanks to Mike for putting on an enjoyable event,
thanks to the other teams for coming out, and thanks
especially to my teammates for not allowing my negs on
tossups 1 and 2 to derail us in the finals. I was having
Fraud Bowl flashbacks for a while.
Questions
were all pretty good with one egregious error: Andrew
Dice Clay plays a bouncer in PRETTY IN PINK, not 16
Candles.
Other random thoughts:
Book I read
in 2001 with the most benefit to one's trash game:
American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. Runners-up: Fast Food
Nation, Ender's Shadow.
"Meet the Feebles" is no
longer an appropriate first clue on a Peter Jackson
question, particularly for power.
One
oft-overlooked thing I like about Mike's events: there are
actually veggies and fruit present at lunch. Not a huge
thing, but considering I go most tournament weekends
without ingesting anything green, it's nice to see.
I miss the Get Out of Interrupt Free innovation. I
think I prefer it over Jackpot scoring and unlimited
guessing.
