Congratulations to everyone who qualified for the ICT at yesterday's sectionals. I'm assuming that all of you who qualified now want to know some general info about transportation, hotels, etc. In light of this, I'm going to present a general summary of this type of info now. I'll likely have to repost it later (and it may even be made into its own webpage), but here goes for those of you who want a headstart. As you all know, the ICT will be held April 5-6 at the beautiful "Southern part of heaven," otherwise known as the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. To orient everybody, that's about 10 miles from Durham and 20 from Raleigh, near the intersection of I-85 and I-40. More info on building locations, times, etc. will be posted later, but for the time being, I will include a couple links to maps of campus here (also on the Maize Pages): http://www.unc.edu/depts/visitor/mapprint/index.html http://main.psafety.unc.edu/tp/lotmap/mastermap.htm For those of you who have to fly here, the nearest major airport is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (http://www.rdu.com/), located about 20-25 minutes from campus. Practically every major US airline serves the airport, though American and US Air are the biggest entities. Alternatively, you could go to the Piedmont Triad International Airport, near Greensboro (http://www.ptia.org/), which is about 1 hour from campus. To get from the airport to campus/hotel you can either take a cab (about $20-30), a shuttle (~$15 a person), or rent a car. That brings me to the hotel situation, which unfortunately is not optimum. The only hotel within walking distance of campus is the Carolina Inn, which unfortunately is about $190 a night and appears to be all booked up now. After that, there are a bunch of hotels about 2-3 miles from campus, including the Best Western University Inn, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, Red Roof Inn, and Sheraton. These all vary in price, but all run between $60 and $90 a night. A cheaper alternative might be to get a hotel somewhere along the I-40 corridor. Here's a couple good webpages full of hotels in and around Chapel Hill and Durham: http://www.chocvb.org/accom.shtml http://www.durham-nc.com/visitor/places_to_stay/index.html OK, enough for this posting, I'll finish this in Part II
