The decision to standardize the RCT formats and the playoffs was made by the ACUI College Bowl Program Team (formerly known as the College Bowl Committee) in consultation with CBCI. Here is the text of what that group decided last spring: "All of the following are minimum standards to be observed at the regional tournament level. If any regional coordinator (RC) would like to chooses a format other than one of the following, s/he may do so with the concurrance of the Team Leader for the ACUI College Bowl Program Team (Don Tucker): 7 or less teams participating - Double Round Robin 8 - 14 teams participating - Full Round Robin 15 or more teams participating - Modified Round Robin Playoff Format: For ALL ACUI College Bowl intercollegiate tournaments, the top four teams, after the completion of round-robin or modified round robin play, will be seeded in a double elimination playoff." Exceptions to the double-elimination playoff were granted where the one-day schedule was such that a full round robin plus the 4-team double elimination were not possible. Exceptions to the round robin vs. modified round robin cutoff points were granted where there were host rooms and/or volunteer limitations. It is ACUI and CBCI's desire to make all 15 RCTs full round robins with a 4-team double elimination playoff. On behalf of CBCI and ACUI, I apologize for failing to previously post this information here. Mary Oberembt College Bowl Company, Inc.
