Hayden makes a good point - Yahoo is becoming less reliable. Redundancy is useful (1) If there is an *urgent* message , and Groups is down email it to me and I will post to www.faqt.org, there will of course be lag as I am not hardwired into my computer. (2a) R. would know the status of the old email group (2b) The mailing list via Y! groups does not reveal real email addresses if users do not make them public. This is good to prevent spam. It is bad in that I don't know where any of you really are. Thus exporting the list only gives me your yahoo alias, which is fine if you actually use your Y! mail account, useless otherwise. (3) TD's should know the email contacts of all teams coming to their tournaments. They should also make their tournament web page live (and inform teams of its existence) and teams should check before they leave for last minute announcements. (4) I have thought about setting up a slash or scoop based user accessible posting system for qb (e.g. see slashdot.org or kuro5hin.org). Anyone with experience doing this (i.e. the difficult work of actually getting the thing operating), contact me. (5) If there is a service like Y! Groups that is more reliable, let me know. I suspect all other services will have their outages from time to time, Y! is bigger and thus more noticeable. Its still up 99% of the time, although not 99.9%, (6) Thanks to Ms. Hamlin for attempting to move the photos. -- dml --- In quizbowl_at_y..., sfs98ud99 <no_reply_at_y...> wrote: > Below is an idea.
