It wouldn't be the first time I've gotten death threats because of my questionis, but let the record show that Sudheer's flailing away on my packet involved guessing a number at the end of a tossup where the answer was "degrees of freedom" and not being able to come up with Grignard reagent on an easy bonus part. Nevertheless, my packet was a combination of softcore tossups (except for a couple) and hardcore bonuses containing such lead-ins as "For 10 points each-name these British composers who are neither Holst, Elgar, Britten, or Vaughn Williams" and "Name these things from Mughal architecture-for 10 points each" is free to anyone who asks for it. (ard_at_...) A sweet tournament, some sweet playoff packets, well run, enthusiastic moderating, lots of opportunity for taunting, and a rare chance to actually wish Hairboy was there. As usual, I showed my relative lack of ability on high school level questions, but like Bill Russell in the year he was player-coach, I took it easy in the prelims and saved up my energy for the playoffs, avenging two of my four prelim losses, before running into the tossup steamroller that is Dwight, not that he's shabby on bonuses. For anyone who plays in a single tournament, I leave you with this advice: The key to doing well is not negging. Practicing the self-control that would allow a Kennedy to give up booze for Lent is key. Congrats to everyone who did well, ha-ha to anyone who crapped out, and obscenities to all those people who said they were going to show up but didn't.
