The David Riley Coaches Conference (also known as the David Riley Conference and the David Riley Players & Coaches Conference) is an annual quizbowl conference hosted by PACE. It traditionally takes place during NSC weekend at the tournament hotel.
Format and History
The conference originated as an educational opportunity to support coaches as they developed teams and circuits in their areas, and has since evolved into a two hour panel discussion on topics of interest to the general quizbowl community. From 2015-2019, it was hosted on the Friday evening of NSC weekend. In 2020 and 2021, it was streamed online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the main conference moved to the Saturday evening of NSC to accommodate an additional panel on women and other marginalized genders in quizbowl.
The conference began in 2015 as the PACE Coaches Conference. Starting with the 2016 edition, it was renamed in honor of the late David Riley.
