Sangamon Valley High School is a rural public high school located in Niantic, Illinois, which is between Springfield & Decatur. Sangamon Valley used to be called Niantic-Harristown until its consolidation with Illiopolis in 2004. It competes in Class A, the "small school" division, of the Illinois High School Association's State Championship series. The Storm also compete in the MSM Conference and are former members of the Lincoln Prairie Conference, Little Okaw Valley Conference, & Central Illinois Scholastic Bowl League.
For many years, Niantic-Harristown was coached by Donna Cheatham Robinson, who is now in the IHSSBCA Hall of Fame. The team won the Class A 1996 IHSA State Championship Tournament. That team was captained by Michael Pyle, who went on to become the Chief Economic Adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris.
