Centralia High School is a public school in Centralia, Illinois, which is between Decatur and Carbondale. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association’s State Championship Series. The Orphans also compete in the Southern Illinois Academic Conference & are past participants on WSIU's Hi-Q.
They had strong teams in the early 1990s coached by Brian Courtney. Centralia won the 1991 IHSA State Championship Tournament, which was the final year that the IHSA had all teams compete in a single class. They were the last Southern Illinois team to win until Carbondale did so in 2009.
