Inherent Advantage -- what the hell? If I was to try to eliminate Andy's so called "advantage," the following teams would have needed to be eliminated from contention for the title of champion: Michigan: Dave G. and Zeke both played 4 years for Maryland. Cornell: Matt C. spent his undergrad years here too. All 3 Virginia teams: In a double-bye schedule, there's no way to sit both of the other teams while one of the teams' packet is read. Maryland B: Shaun Hayeslip has spent time on teams with players from Michigan, Cornell, The Dinosaurs, and Maryland A. Maryland A: Duh. By the way, this is not Maryland's A team in any sense of it, nor is it the best team that Maryland could field in any tournament. So according to Andy, I could have had seven teams out of fourteen competing for the title. What a tournament that would have been. My gripe is with people not attending making any kind of comments at all. I can excuse the South-Eastern teams for not showing -- somehow Berry put their tournament on the same weekend. But here's an interesting list of schools that you'll soon see on the QB-list: Hopkins, GW, George Mason, Georgetown, UMBC. What do they have in common? They're all within an hour's drive of College Park, and yet they didn't show up. Perhaps George Mason is a different case than the others; after all, if one man can't make it, then there isn't a team to send (as far as I know). But the other four are inexcusable. When was the last time one of them held an academic tournament not attended by Maryland? One last note -- I would like to commend Delaware's team for their performance this weekend. Despite getting beaten often, they were always in good spirits and never threatened to leave early. I hope they stick with QB and go to other tournaments less harsh than the Terrapin. josh
