I think Mike makes a very interesting point. This is something that
I know James is striving to do for DUCK Bowl II -- make it
mainstream enough that just about anyone can have a good time
playing the questions.
I also thought that TRASH Regionals this year were of such a level
that the questions strayed only every so often into the cult
following questions, and generally asked about things in the popular
culture mainstream.
But in all, his point is well-taken, in that perhaps there needs to
be a clear definition of the intention of each tournament, so as to
say towards which end a tournament will lean -- towards the
mainstream or towards the hard-core trash players. It strikes me
this must be about the same debate had whenever NAQT was introduced
and when ACF was brought into existence.
