i would ordinarily pile onto the encomium already beginning to roll
in for auspicious incident, but if you weren't there you probably
don't give a rat's ass. the people who competed know what a great
tournament it was. the people who weren't there, well, there's
probably a reason you weren't there, and maybe it was a good one.
i think it's funny that everybody on our team felt like they were
riding everybody else's coattails. to some extent this is true--
obviously no one or two (or probably even three) of us could have
taken down subash-led chicago or kelly-led kentucky teams. on the
other hand, everybody was doing their thing. it's fun to be a part of
a well-balanced team.
but i think the best part of the whole experience was getting raj his
first ever tournament win. now that he has finally joined the ranks
of the winners, who is the best quizbowl player to have never won a
tournament? i can't think of anybody off the top of my head, but i
don't really know the circuit very well any more.
