No, the point is this: a fee cannot be applied retroactively at the whim of a TD, no matter how much hair he or she has lost. When he or she took on the assignment of TD, THEY should've done their homework and found out stuff like this happens ALL THE TIME. These are not last minute cancellations, and are therefore reasonable and should be expected, regardless of the reason for the cancellation. Attempting to bully the remaining teams is ludicrous. How do you not know that something like that will lead balloon with the teams still in the competition? What Amanda did was grossly unfair (even if the fee is never collected she still threatened), possibly beyond the boundary of her authority, and frankly damaging to Depauw since future tournaments won't always be prerequisites to a national tourney. Sean who despite all this knows it will be MUCH better than the unfortunateness of last SCT
