Am I alone in stating that the original situation as posed by Mr. Kwartler seemed to be an excellent idea, regardless of the miscommunication that may have occured? As posed, it would have guaranteed 9-10 regions (essentially anyone in this country, or Canada for that matter) a full weekend of quizbowl, both academic and TRASH, while ensuring that the maximum audience is exposed to each. I really don't see how anyone loses under that arrangement, whereas I do see how someone loses under the revised statement, in that two different schools may host ACF Fall and TRASH regs, thus creating travel annoyances or scheduling conflicts, or, if I am understanding it that the team that wins the bid has exclusive rights to both ACF and TRASH they can choose to run one and not the other, which is patently unfair. I hope everyone here wants to see both ACF Fall and TRASH in as many locations as possible with as many teams participating as possible. Also, I would like to challenge local rival MSU to a best of 5 series for the regional championship in "who gives a shit."
