As Eric and Nathan have pointed out, a lot of
people do prefer to play as many rounds as possible.
The main reason I asked the question is that I have
been tinkering with possible changes to the format for
PB10. I would like to maximize the number of rounds
each team gets--to a point--while also minimizing the
number of rounds needed. Right now, the most promising
format(s) I've come up with have the winning team playing
19-20 matches in 22 rounds, with all teams playing
14-16 matches. [I might be able to cut it down to 21
rounds, but that's about as low as it can possibly go.]
More rounds for each team, though, would necessitate
lengthening the tournament, and I suspect some people find
even 16 matches too many.
